In two different cases, when the customs department of Mumbai Airport arrived in Riyadh and Dubai, the thick gold pipes hidden in skates and gold bars were hidden from the underwear of two Indians.

Another person waiting to collect goods in the arrival hall was arrested in one of the cases.

The total value of gold recovered is Rs. 72,140,000.

Officials of the Air Intelligence Department (AIU) said one of their team members, Fasil Puzha Thindath, who flew from Riyadh earlier this week on an Indian Airlines aircraft (AI 922).

“His checked baggage contains roller skates. Our men suspected something was wrong. They dismantled the skates and found that the cylindrical tube that fixed the roller skate wheel was made of gold.

8 thick gold bars and multiple hollow cylindrical gold tubes were recovered. They weigh 825 grams, valued at 23.3 million rupees,” an AIU official said.

In the second incident, 15 gold bars weighing 1,750 grams were taken from Kounain Mohammed Khan, who arrived in Dubai on Wednesday morning on a SpiceJet flight (team 014). He is carrying a bar in his underwear.

His question caused AIU officials to go to the airport arrival hall to wait for the receipt of Sayed Sultan Ali. The three were arrested under the Customs Act for further investigation.
